Like creator, like critter

Yes, it's very late. So late it is early.

This is just a quick blog cos I have realised it has been a while since I last posted and I just HAD to post a pic of the owl I have made (Yes, she's finished) :

Jane's Owl

we have named her 'Twit' but MIL will have another name, and it will be hers so we shall not try to influence her. Now I am consumed with worry she won't like it. Hmmm.

I have a blister-like ow on my thumb and pointer finger from crocheting from 8.30pm-1.30am, Fri through Sat!! Can I learn to be a left-handed crafter for a while?

Had a great lunch with my pal today (um...yesterday?) and I am excited cos she wants a crocheted critter too, so more yarny fun to look forward to! I WILL WILL WILL get those jumper stitches picked up tomorrow (today?). This is getting a little confusing. I'm going to bed...

p.s. hmmm, this says I posted at 18.45 but it's 3am...

The Phones and an Owl

Hey there,
Yesterday the phones went down for half the day at work so I was answering very random calls for a while, then they came back up and my stats were abysmal, from the report anyway. Still managed to do almost as many as Friday in an hour less (we couldn't get calls for an hour) which is seriously weird. I give up trying to work it out at times. Hubby says if I get fired he'll still love me. Don't think they are going to fire me though...
Today was fab because I only worked 9-13.30 then slunk off for my Doctor's appointment. Yaaaaas. I am reading a great book at the moment, the second in the Dresden files by Jim Butcher, 'Fool Moon'. Nothing like humourous fantasy to cheer you up of a train journey. (I commute an hour a day and walk for about the same amount of time all in. Ten hour days take it out of me. Moan moan moan).
Been watching more Bones season II this evening and have started crocheting an Owl for my MIL. Hope it is going to turn out ok, already seeing one side looks more sharply decreased than the other but I think I can remedy that later. Have started with a mottled brown chunky yarn on a 4mm hook and it seems not to be looking too holey (so no stuffing should show through). Chuck is still going to stay with us as he has a lame foot, I don't think MIL should have to nurse him. Wonder what she will call this owl. Wonder if I'll get it ready in time for seeing MIL a week on Saturday? We have a lovely pressie for her we got from our Honeymoon in Malta and we will take it with us to Cork as her late Birthday pressie.
Realised the other day that I never gave my dad his Father's day gift last time he was over, but he had forgotton too so it was ok ;) Wonder if I'll ever get my wee cuz's jumper finished for her upcoming birthday? Starting to panic a bit about it. Must set aside some time for those dratted picked up stitches that need doing...
I need a new range of clothes. I've decided it is time for a makeover. Hubby and I have also pledged to blitz the house after our hols. Hmmm, we shall see ;)

Toodles for now!

Chuck Sunday

Today has been another quick and yet gentle day in the life of me. Treated to lunch, watched more episodes of Bones (on season two now), finished my chicky (called chuck, and we are going to keep him as he is a bit lopsided and I don't think my MIL would like him as much as we do), tidied the house, held the flex for hubby as he mowed the lawn, had a wee lazy snooze with hubby, ate some cake, drank some tea, ate some steak pie and rice, text mum a few times. All that is not in order, but it was a great day anyway ;)

Here is chuck:
Chuck

Can't believe it is monday tomorrow and I'll have my peace shattered by frantic information bombardment. At least my training has been pulled and I can just proceed as normal. And a half day to look forward to on Tuesday as I have a follow-up doc's appointment. Should be another fast week. And I'll get to see my wee cup man again :)

Really enjoying hearing all the memories and excitement that is coming out of hubby as our time in Cork draws near. A week on Friday and we'll be staying the night in a B&B before heading to what used to be his Grandparent's house by the shore. Looking forward to seeing everyone again and catching up. There is never enough time to be around everyone you like as much as you would like! Hubby is going to take me on some nice-sounding walks while we are there too and I just hope the weather is nice. Need to get the owl for MIL finished before we go, and maybe pluck up the courage to pick up the stitches for K's hoodie as her birthday is on 13th August and I want to give her something she can use! I think it will look very cute on her.

Been invited through to Stirling to 'do lunch' with a friend on Saturday coming, so that will be fun too - haven't really seen much of anyone since our wedding and I can't believe that was two and a half months ago! No, I got married to hubby, not my lunching friend. Rasp.

I have somehow managed NOT to read my LK! mag until now, I'm off to correct that now...

'Later!

Photo Hunters

Saturdays are my friends, how can I fail to love them, especially when my scrummy man can share them with me? Feeling mostly normal now and trying to remember that I still need lots of fluids. Fortunately I am also receiving lots of loving vibes from a certain someone too and that is helping big time. Ooooo how sickening are we??!

We went throught to Falkirk today in our wee car ('Robin') and parked in the Tescos carpark. Had a slight problem with parking but we got there in the end. Our first stop was the wonderful photographers Bill Miller and we picked up our wedding photos that were loooong overdue (our fault, not theirs) and handed in a Thank You note as well because Hunter Miller is an absolutely lovely man and did us proud. Happy Sigh. We went back to the car with our albums (one for each set of parents and one for us) and then headed off again to buy the latest edition of LK! and some work troos for me. Hubby wanted some trousers too (men's ones though ;) ) but M&S did not have any to match his suit jacket in his size. We both declared our rumbling tummies after that fruitless search (no pun intended), so we headed to our favourite cafe in Falkirk, The Coffee Consortium, for rolls and saucage. I had a fried egg in mine too. Yumaroonie. Yes that's a word.

While we were in the Cafe I decided that we should have a wee saunter around the charity shop across the street, so we did after we had finished all the milk in our jug and downed so much tea I felt waterlogged (mmm). I managed to pick up a set of 4 dpns and two straight sets of needles and they were only going to charge me £1.50. I put the same again into the box because I had been going to buy a bag for £3.99 but it didn't have a zip to keep out the rain so would have been no use as a knitting tote. I forgot to mention that I managed to get my work troos for a mere fiver from Dorothy Perkins too, so I was feeling elated!

Hubby then wanted a sponge and bucket for the car (maaaan it needs a wash) so we hopped over to Woolies, unfortunately we couldn't find a nice ironing board cover that was elasticated, however. How will we survive. Then we went back to the car, dropped stuff off again, quickly whizzed around Tescos and then headed home.

We looked through all of the albums and the pictures are fab-u-lous. It all seems like such a gorgeous fairytale. We asked for a few in black and white and they came out really well. Hubby made me a cheese sandwich and I tried to read a bit sitting on the bed afterwards but the usual happened and next thing I knew it was dinnertime and hubby was cooking with Planet Rock blaring away in the kitchen - right under where I was trying to get some shuteye! It is hard to be mad with a man who cooks for you with no complaints though, so I just rescued the washing and hung it up and tried to make faces at my reflection in the wardrobe doors to come round a bit. I am blaming my sleepyness on the anti-bs as I only finished them yesterday. It is nothing to do with the fact I hardly got any sleep due to bad thoughts last night. I'm my own worst enemy sometimes (read 'most of the time').

So here I am after some good yum and two episodes of Bones Season I, tapping away. I have crocheted a little more of the chick amigurumi I started the other day and I hope to get a bit more of that done this evening. And some forum surfing. Other than that probably more Bones and tea? It's such a hard life living here.

See ya!

Bones, A Cup and Two Artists

And I'm back.

Feeling much better today.

Yesterday I dragged my carcass into work although I was still popping anti-biotics (last one tonight - yaaay) and managed to accomplish quite a lot: answered 52 calls, read 40-odd emails (I was only away for two damn days!!), filled in a return to work form, caught up with the gossip, made a nice humous/green pepper/cucumber brown bread sandwich, ran to catch my train even although my kidneys were very uncomfortable, yada yada yada. Oh, and when I came home I slept from 8.30pm-10.30pm, popped a pill, ironed my clothes for work today and then back to bed. I feel it was a good day, all things considered ;)

Today I dealt with only the low teens in the email stakes and managed to somehow only get through 36 calls. Being ill must be good for me, I seem to accomplish less when I'm well. There is no formulae to the anomaly that is me.

So after watching two episodes of Bones Season I on DVD, hubby and I have slunk off to seperate computer screens to tap magic into the world. Or something. He writes articles for this website and I am very proud of him (gush, gush). I wish I was as disciplined as he is - then I might get somewhere in my writing. I have a 'novel' that has been stuck somewhere in the 40k-odd word region for aaaaaages now. Bad bad artist. I have instead been hypnotised by the yarn. Bad bad Let's Knit mag/Crochet Today mag/LK forum/RAVELRY/general LYSes in the vicinity...

One of the high points of today was being presented with a plastic cup that had been made into a wee person - arms made out of post-it notes - by my colleague who sits next to me. Must add a pic later as it is so simple and yet cheers me up. The other high(er) point was, of course, being driven home from the station by hubby so that my work folder stayed dry, and then having him prepare me a meal and two cups of tea afterwards. The Love is strong in our wee house :)

Ciao for now!

Well...Hello

So I'm not feeling the best today, I am off work and somehow I have started a blog although I may fall asleep in the middle of the post. Here it is. I feel creative already.

My latest project was an Alligator, lovingly named 'Sergt Rock' by his new owner (my hubby). Here is a pic:

Alligator_on_printer

and before him there was the wee dragon whom my mum has called 'Stuff' (due to my not crocheting him tightly enough, really, and his stuffing showing through)

Dragon_door2

I adapted the Alligator pattern from this and the dragon came from here. So go forth and crochetfy!

I made 2 feet and a beak for the chick from here yesterday but I was feeling so blech I couldn't concentrate much so I got no further.

Hoping to get anti-biotics in an hour or so...

...may post....y-a-a-a-a-wnnnnn....later
